Born in 2005 in Lagos, Marylove started her tennis career at the tender age of four. Coached by her father, she has become the youth star of Nigerian tennis.
Born with a fighting spirit, her never say never attitude has set her on the road to becoming Nigeria’s first grand slam title winner. Her drive and passion can be seen as she takes on different competitions and her undeniable talent at such a young age has won her several achievements along the way.
She competed in her first tournament (U14 Category) at the age of seven, winning a silver medal. Then she won the Central Bank of Nigeria Open- U12 Category at the age of eight; the Lagos State All Secondary School event at the age of nine; the Ikoyi Club Junior Open, NNPC Junior Open (U14), SNEPCO Junior Open, Midwestern Oil and Gas Junior Open and Gauteng North Belgrave Sportsman’s Warehouse Tournament South Africa.
In 2017, at the age of 12, she became the first junior player to reach the Final of the Central Bank of Nigeria Open, losing to Nigeria’s #2 ranked female.
She is currently ranked fourth overall in Nigeria and eighth in Africa for U14 Girls. This, she says, is just the beginning of the journey to becoming the first Nigerian female to play on the Women’s Tennis Association circuit and breaking into the Top 20 rankings globally.
MaryLove is now a student of the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida, USA and is on her way to bigger things.
